The City of International Falls Water Department is strongly encouraging businesses to flush their water lines. While many area businesses have been closed for the past few months due to the Governor’s Executive Orders, businesses have sat empty and water has sat stagnant in the plumbing. It is likely that the water in these pipes is old and substandard. We encourage you to flush both the hot water and cold water lines. Hot water heaters should be drained and refilled twice with fresh water, by allowing the hot water faucets to run until they begin producing cold water. Cold water faucets should be run until the temperature of the water is extremely cold. This recommendation is to help ensure that businesses, particularly ones that serve food and drink, have the same high quality water that the City of International Falls produces for its customers.
