The City of International Falls Public Works Department will begin its routine fire hydrant maintenance and flushing of water mains the week of June 14th through the end of August throughout the city.
This operation will take place Monday through Friday from 2:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M. Some discoloration of water may occur during this process. In the event discoloration occurs, we advise running the cold water tap for a few minutes until the water is clear. The discoloration will clear up as we move out of your area. Please refrain from washing clothes until your water runs clear.
This operation allows an opportunity to check the function of all the City’s fire hydrants and is necessary to flush out the water mains in order to provide the best quality water year-round to our residents.
A map is available below highlighting the areas in which the City will be tentatively completing hydrant maintenance each week.
We appreciate your cooperation, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you.
