A special meeting of the City Council of the City of International Falls, Minnesota was held in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building and via BlueJeans Conferencing on the 25th day of March, 2021 at the hour of 1:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Councilors Buller, Ditsch, Holden, Krause and Mayor Droba.
Media and public via BlueJeans Conferencing. All members noted they could hear the others and the discussion.
MEMBERS ABSENT: None.
| APPROVED City Administrator advertisement for employment and starting salary range | MOTION by Councilor Ditsch to approve the Human Resource Committee’s recommendation to approve the City Administrator advertisement for employment, with the starting salary range of $90,000 to $100,000 per year plus benefit package. Motion seconded by Councilor Holden.
Councilor Buller inquired as to the language referenced in the advertisement requesting human resource skills. Administration Support Specialist Rud clarified that the Human Resource Committee discussed that language and chose to leave it in the advertisement, because while the City Administrator will not act as the Human Resource Manager, it is prudent to ask that the candidate have good human resource skills. Motion carried unanimously. |
| APPROVED the City Administrator hiring process and established a City Administrator Application Review Committee | MOTION by Councilor Ditsch to approve the Human Resource Committee’s recommendation to approve the City Administrator hiring process as outlined by Administration staff and designate the full City Council as the Application Review Committee for the review of City Administrator job applicants. Motion seconded by Councilor Holden and carried unanimously. |
| APPROVED recommendation to direct the City Attorney to prepare a draft City Administrator employment agreement | MOTION by Councilor Ditsch to approve the Human Resource Committee’s recommendation to direct the City Attorney to prepare a draft City Administrator employment agreement, using the League of Minnesota Cities’ City Administrator Model Employment Agreement as a guide. Motion seconded by Councilor Buller and carried unanimously. |
