A special meeting of the City Council of the City of International Falls, Minnesota was held in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building on the 27th day of March, 2023 at the hour of 4:15 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Droba and Councilors Buller, Holden, Kalar, and Wegner
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
OTHERS PRESENT: City Administrator Betty Bergstrom, City Attorney Chelsea Nelson, and Human Resources Sherri Stensland
| CALL TO ORDER and CONVENE CLOSED MEETING | Mayor Droba called the special meeting to order at 4:15 P.M. Mayor Droba announced that the City Council would proceed into a closed meeting session with the above listed present in accordance with Minnesota Statute 13D.05, Subd. 2(b), for the preliminary allegations against an individual subject to City Council’s authority.
MOTION by Councilor Holden to recess the open meeting and move to close the meeting. Motion seconded by Councilor Kalar and carried unanimously. |
| RECONVENE OPEN SESSION | MOTION by Councilor Kalar to reconvene open session. Motion seconded by Councilor Wegner and carried unanimously. Mayor Droba reconvened the open session meeting at 5:03 P.M.
MOTION by Councilor Kalar to end employment with Makayla Werdier in accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers (Local #49) collective bargaining agreement Article 19 effective March 28, 2023. Motion seconded by Councilor Buller. Motion passed 4-1 with Councilors Buller, Kalar, Wegner, and Mayor Droba voting “yea” and Councilor Holden voting “nay”. |
